Going Open Source with Open Source POS

A friend asked me to help out with setting up their small business with a system that will support their new repair services business.  After some serious consideration (since this will suck up all of what little free time I had for the coming year) I decided to jump in with both feet.

After researching what was available I selected OpenSourcePOS for the core of what I'll deliver for several reasons.  First and foremost it met the requirements that my friend gave me.  Also, since he said he wanted something that he thought would need to be custom build for him the system had to developed with tools that are within my skill set.  And finally I wanted something that had a vast majority of satisfied customers.  All core requirements are satisfied with by OpenSourcePOS.

So moving forward I'm going to post about my experiences and hopefully add some value to the project.
